Are There Alternatives to the Surgical Brow Lift? - Cosmetic Surgery Guide
Sagging or aging brow lines will in all likelihood affect as all at some point, and for many of us the experience will be unwanted and have a detrimental effect on our self-esteem. While traditionally the solution to this problem has been surgical, the inherent risks of surgery and its invasive nature are a source of some discomfort for some people, and many people look for an alternative solution to an aging brow and forehead. Non-surgical brow lifts are a relatively recent addition to the many cosmetic treatments available, and provide many with an attractive alternative to traditional surgeries.
Is it possible to get a brow lift without surgery?
Thanks to advances in cosmetic medicine it is possible to receive a brow lift without the need for surgery. A brow lift aims to relieve tension and wrinkles from the brow region and forehead, providing a younger and more refreshed look. The shape of the brow is often altered through this, hence the term 'lift' being applied to the procedure. Surgical methods involve making incisions to gain access to muscles and tissue under the brow, once there the surgeon tightens muscle and removes excess skin to give you the younger appearance you are going for.
Certain non-surgical skincare treatments have found their way into the brow lifting world. These treatments include the use of dermal fillers and Botox to lift and treat areas around the eyes, brow, and forehead. A dermal filler is basically a safe material that, one injected into the skin, clears up wrinkles, creases, and scars. Natural and man-made materials can be used as fillers, and have in fact been used since the 1890s when doctors started transferring fat from one part of a patient to another. The procedure has evolved over the years and at present a number of products are readily available as dermal fillers, for example Radiesse and Restylane.
Botox is also a substance with an established history in medicine, and cosmetics in particular. The substance used in Botox is a particular protein which also relieves wrinkling and the like, albeit through a different mechanism.
Is a non-surgical brow lift for me?
If you are unhappy with what age is doing to your brow and forehead, or suffer from an overly low or uneven brow, then brow lift treatments can be a good option for you. The non-surgical varieties of these treatments are particularly useful if you suffer from a fear of surgery, want a quicker treatment with an extremely short recovery time, or are worried about the health risks that surgery can pose.
