Arm Lift Surgery Abroad - Cosmetic Surgery Guide
There are two main reasons why you might choose to have your arm lift surgery performed abroad. In some countries, cosmetic surgery is cheaper. As an arm lift is never truly cheap, getting it done abroad for a lower price can be tempting for some. Some people even claim that the price of their travel (for example, aeroplane tickets) combined with the cost of their arm lift abroad, was in total cheaper than the cost of the surgery alone in the United Kingdom. Alternatively, some countries in general offer a higher quality of service with regards to arm lift surgery. This means that the surgeons in these countries may be more practised and generally better at performing arm lifts and other cosmetic surgery. These countries might also have reputations for high levels of cleanliness in their hospitals and surgeries, which would decrease your chances of infection. However, these may come at the other end of the price spectrum. With travel, accommodation and paying for high quality arm lift surgery in one of these countries, you could be looking at either a very daunting price or something comparatively cheap.
These are some of the European options which may offer cheaper arm lift surgery:
- Poland
- Hungary
- Belgium
- Croatia
There are, however, multiple problems with the health services in Central and Eastern Europe. Some of the above countries rank quite low in terms of the quality of the healthcare which they provide. Travel to these countries is another factor which you would have to consider. Most airports in the United Kingdom offer the possibility of air travel to these destinations. However, prices will vary depending on which airline you use and when you want to travel. For example, prices are often much higher during school holidays (Easter, summer and Christmas) and cheaper during term-time.
Other countries offering low-cost arm lift surgery include:
- Argentina
- Costa Rica
- Mexico
- Philippines
Once again, there are also problems associated with the health services in some of these areas. An extreme example is Argentina, where in 2002 the Argentine government declared a state of emergency with regards to health among other issues. This is clearly a factor which you will have to consider when deciding whether or not to have an arm lift abroad.
It is important to note that most arm lifts are performed by private surgeons. This means that even if a country has a poor quality of public healthcare, it will not necessarily have inferior private practitioners (though it may be an indicator that the general quality of healthcare in that country or region is substandard).
Another important idea which you ought to consider before making a decision is that even if in general, a country offers a poor quality of healthcare, there may still be some private practitioners in that country who are experienced and specialise in arm lift surgery. However, finding one such surgeon is a difficult task, and often the simplest way to find the better practitioners is to look for a higher price range. In that case, you may find yourself thinking that it would have been far simpler to have looked for arm lift surgery in the United Kingdom, where you can still shop around for the best deal, but also be confident that you will be receiving an acceptable standard of care.
The quality of the healthcare which is provided to you is of the utmost importance when you are planning to undergo any kind of surgery. If the hospital or surgery itself has substandard levels of sanitation and hygiene, this will put you at risk of infection. If your surgeon is not adequately trained, there might be serious complications during surgery, which will put you at risk of injury. Injuries which you sustain during surgery or complications in your health might even be fatal, and therefore you should consider all of the possible risks as well as look for the best quality of service within your budget.
