6-Month Smiles Disadvantages | Dental Treatment Guide
Are there any disadvantages?
6 Month Smiles is not a treatment that can be guaranteed to work for everyone. 6 Month Smiles treatment will not damage your teeth and can only help to improve their appearance but ultimately it is not a miracle solution, and it may be that some people require more extensive treatment depending on the condition of their teeth. There is a potential for the positive results of the treatment to revert and the teeth to begin to resemble their original appearance, but in case this happens your dentist will supply you with a permanent brace that can be used to prevent this.
What are the advantages of this treatment?
The braces are very discrete as they are the same colour as teeth and so unlike traditional braces they are not obvious to everyone. The braces are light on the teeth which enhances their comfort and means that less time and money is needed for readjustment. You should be able to wear whenever you like without feeling embarrassed, exposed or in discomfort. It is likely that you will feel some discomfort at the start of the treatment as you have to adjust the sensation of the braces but after about 2 weeks this should subside. The relative comfort of the treatment is due to the fact that the braces are not exerting too much pressure on the teeth to move into new positions on the gums. This treatment is not time consuming and can be used as a quick and effective remedy to the problem of unsightly teeth.
