Varicose Vein Removal
Varicose and spider veins are a common condition that can affect the appearance of the skin on the legs. There can be pain and discomfort. Spider veins occur when the venules beneath the skin are dilated. This generally occurs because of an increase in pressure inside the vein. In women, spider veins may be seen when the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the blood are reduced. This may cause the veins to resist any change in pressure. Spider veins can either be restricted to a small area and not be very visible, or they can be visible across a large section of the skin.
Varicose veins are large veins that occur in both men and women. These veins are caused because of faulty valves which cause the blood to flow back, instead of flowing on towards the heart. These are traditionally associated with painful legs.
Reticular veins are small, thin, walled veins that are bluish in color. These veins can dilate when extra pressure is applied on the veins, and as a result, can become unsightly in appearance. Reticular veins are different from varicose veins.
